Recruitment-Stage Parish Prayer
All-knowing God, lead the Recruitment Team to do your will. Send your Spirit as their guide. Unite them with a common mind to select your chosen spiritual leader for St. Mary’s Church. Guide the Team to develop interview questions reflecting the work of the Parish and Discernment Team. Support them in the interview process as they listen, observe and communicate effectively with the candidates. Direct the Recruitment Team and candidates in their decision-making process to fulfill their needs and those of our faith community.
We ask this in your name dear God. Amen.
Who We Are
St. Mary’s Episcopal Church is a warm, welcoming and diverse community of faith. We come from many different backgrounds, but we are united by a desire to live Christian lives, to grow spiritually and to show God’s love to others in all we do. We are a family oriented parish; loving each other, supporting each other in difficult times and rejoicing together at times of joy.
St. Mary's is a diverse and active downtown congregation, with a comprehensive Christian formation program for adults, children and youth; a vast array of ministries; an excellent music program and many opportunities for fellowship.
The Episcopal Church has a rich tradition. All of our services are based on the time-honored and beautifully written Book of Common Prayer. Yet, at St. Mary’s, the tone of services varies from the formality and solemnity on the highest holy days to informal summer services—some of which are held on the lawn. St. Mary’s is one of 174 parishes that comprise the Episcopal Church in Connecticut (ECCT).
We welcome guests and visitors and have special inquirers sessions to help new folks feel at home here and learn more about St. Mary’s, the Episcopal Church and the Christian faith.
