St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 41 Park Street, Manchester, CT 06040

St. Mary's Episcopal Church is seeking an interim organist/choir director to serve for a period of months or until the process to call a new rector (pastor) in completed (possibly Spring 2017). The position would begin as of Sunday, Dec. 11th if at all possible, or soon thereafter.
The position is 18 hours per week ; salary $15,000 (somewhat negotiable). Minimum 5 years experience in a church setting with choir conducting.
St. Mary’s is a lively, warm, welcoming community of faith. We come from many different backgrounds, but we are united by a desire to live Christian lives, to grow spiritually and to show God’s love to others in all we do. We are a family oriented parish; supporting each other in difficult times and rejoicing together at times of joy. The church is a diverse and active downtown congregation, with a comprehensive Christian formation program for adults, children and youth; a vast array of ministries and active outreach; an excellent music program and many opportunities for fellowship.
Inspiring music in the Episcopal/Anglican tradition is an essential aspect of our worship. We also serve the wider community through bi-annually Celtic Vespers and a Concert Series with visiting instrumentalists. The Interim would, we hope, work with our Music Committee to plan these community concerts.
The Interim would serve as parish organist for the Sunday, 10 am Eucharist (summer 9:00 am), for an occasional Morning Prayer service at the same hour, and for other regular and occasional special services throughout the year. The volunteer Senior Choir has rehearsals on Wednesday evenings conducted by the organist. At present our Junior Choir is lead by the organist at a short rehearsal after the Sunday (once per month typically). We also have a small bell choir whose members accompany a psalm, hymn or anthem at times throughout the church year.
Organ: Rodgers/Ruffati II hybrid electronic/pipe organ, aging but with good sound. There is also a piano in the sanctuary used for hymns and anthem accompaniment as well.
The Interim Director would work under the supervision of and in consultation with the Interim Rector in planning music for services.
Please send resume, references and other pertinent information to The Rev. Lynne A. Grifo, Interim Rector, at the address above.
