St. Mary's cares about the needs of its parishioners and provides pastoral care for them in different ways:
Visitation – Visits are made to parishioners' homes, hospitals, rehabilitation centers or other institutions where they may be receiving care. Our clergy and pastoral visitors will make these visits. When you know you will need a visit, please call the St. Mary's office at 860-649-4583. New privacy regulations prevent us from knowing that you may be in a care facility, so it is important for you to let us know.
Eucharistic Ministers – Lay Eucharistic Ministers bring Holy Communion directly from the parish Eucharist to the homebound, usually on a monthly basis. Call the church office to make arrangements.
St. Mary's Care Group – This is a group of volunteers from our parish that bring meals to those recently home from the hospital, provide rides to doctors and do simple tasks for people who are unable to help themselves. Call the Church office at 860-649-4583 and ask for Eileen Christensen, St. Mary's Care Coordinator.
Parish Nurse – Our parish nurse, Lynne Kumnick, RN, MSN, provides education about your medical needs, and can talk to your doctor with you. She is not able to provide "hands-on" care. However, she will do blood pressure screening or personal consultation and provide certain medical information where necessary. All records, questions, conversations and discussions are confidential, and written records are secured in a locked file cabinet.
Pastoral Counseling – Pastoral counseling is provided as needed.
For further information, please call the church office at (860) 649-4583.
